Aerospace Industry To Get AR Workflows From QuEST

Roll-out for the new technology will begin at Farnborough International Airshow.

A number of industries have experienced benefits from integrating augmented reality (AR) technology into its workflows, with the technology helping to provide hands-free data to employees. Engineering services company QuEST Global are now attempting to provide these same benefits to the aerospace industry.

The end-to-end customisable AR solution is called AR360 is planned for a roll-out at Farnborough International Airshow, which is due to be held in the UK from 16th-22nd July, 2018.

Key features of the AR360 system include remote assistance, 3D explore mode, e-commerce, analytics, live content, procedures checklists, and enterprise integration. QuEST say the solution is easily customisable with a content management system. This includes content development and content management via a web portal.

“As part of the larger trend of digital transformation, there is a rapid proliferation of AR systems, wherein technology is harnessed to increase productivity, reduce time to market and deliver zero-error workflows in highly complex manufacturing environments. The aerospace industry is keen to implement various cognitive technologies to overcome the shortage of skilled talent. Our customers have shown high interests in realizing unmatched business outcomes through the application of AR to aftermarket and maintenance optimization. We strongly believe AR360, which has proven use cases, will support the digital transformation journey of organizations for both their global and regional presence,” says Steve Gerber, SVP & Global Industry Head – Aerospace and Defense, QuEST Global.

The solution has already seen use in various areas of manufacturing, oil and gas, automotive electronics and healthcare.

The solution is designed to enhance productivity in areas that employ highly complex machinery and equipment. The AR360 system will be demonstrated at QuEST Hall 1 Booth #1570, where it will showcase aero engine after-market use cases and maintenance assist features.

Further information can be found on the QuEST Global website. As usual, VRFocus will continue to keep you up to date on new applications for AR technology.
