Apex Construct Dated for North American Retail Release

Add another VR title to your growing PlayStation VR collection.

Bow and arrow focused experiences are fairly plentiful on virtual reality (VR) headsets and one of the best around is Fast Travel Games’ Apex Construct. Originally launched on PlayStation VR before coming to HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, this month also saw European PlayStation VR owners get hold of a physical version. A North American retail release has been on the cards for July, and today the studio has confirmed the release date; 31st July 2018.

Apex Construct

The retail release is thanks to publisher Perp Games, which has been behind several disk launches for PlayStation VR this year and last, including: Polyarc’s MossTime CarnageThe American DreamRadial-G: Racing Revolved, VR Karts, and Don’t Knock Twice

“Questioning the potentially dangerous impact of sentient technology is a topic that we can address in our media in a lot of interesting ways. Apex Construct takes a unique approach,” says Mickey Torode, director of publishing at Perp Games in a statement. “The bow and arrow combat really enhance the feeling of a return to the rudimentary human existence, echoing back to early hunting techniques that adds a rawness and urgency to the fights.”

Apex Construct tells the story of two conflicting AI beings locked in a drawn-out war. Set in a postapocalyptic world where humanity is all but lost, players take control of the last living human and are tasked with uncovering the mystery behind the extinction of all organic life.

When VRFocus reviewed the PlayStation VR version we said: “Despite some minor gripes, its clear that Apex Construct represents the way forward for VR videogames, an absorbing, intriguing experience that draws you in with a rich world complete with its own history and mysteries to be unravelled as well as a fluid combat system. Apex Construct is the standard by which future VR titles will be judged, and an indicator that VR has stepped up its game.”

The price is the same as the for the digital version, with retailers selling Apex Construct for $29.99 USD. For any further updates from Fast Travel Games on Apex Construct or any other VR title, keep reading VRFocus.
