Evasion Confirmed for October Launch on PlayStation VR [Updated]

A PC VR release date has yet to be confirmed.

Today has seen Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) announce a major milestone in PlayStation VR sales, achieving 3 million in under two years. Alongside this, the company also sneaked out launch details for Archiact’s promising first-person shooter Evasion, with the title now confirmed for an October release.

Evasion is a frantic sci-fi shooter that can be played in either single-player or co-op multiplayer modes. Players can choose from four classes (Striker, Surgeon, Engineer and Warden) each having their own unique strengths, weapons and abilities, with players able to customise their class as they level-up.

Like any FPS title, movement plays a very important role in not getting killed, so Archiact has been keen to ensure players are as comfortable as possible whilst in VR. There’s a big range of movement customisation options available to suit every need. Whether that’s teleportation, smooth locomotion, snap turning or anything in between.

Until now Evasion had been given a ‘Fall 2018’ launch window for all three versions. The PlayStation VR videogame will launch on 9th October 2018, with Archiact still yet to confirm a date for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

When VRFocus previewed Evasion at GDC 2018, Archiact was demoing the experience alongside the new HTC Vive Pro, to which we said: “Having used the HTC Vive since launch and being accustomed to its visual fidelity there was certainly a ‘wow’ moment stepping out into Evasion’s alien world, it looked so crisp and vivid that it’s was easy to forget this demo was being held in GDC. Screenshots of VR titles can sometimes look far better than what’s actually presented, this was like being inside a screenshot.”

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Archiact and Evasion, reporting back with any further updates including the PC release date.

Update: VRFocus can now confirm that the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive launch date will also be 9th October.
