MelodyVR Teams With NEC Group Arenas For Live Events

Music fans will be able to virtually attend live shows at NEC Group Arenas with MelodyVR.

MelodyVR has been offering original music experiences in virtual reality (VR) since earlier this year, which includes live stadium shows, or special VIP sessions. MelodyVR has now teamed with live venue company NEC Group Arenas to offer virtual access to its live events.

Users of MelodyVR will be able to watch a selection of live events held at locations such as the Genting Arena or Arena Birmingham by using a VR headset to watch performances from the likes of Royal Blood, The Script or UB40 Feat. Ali, Astro & Mickey.

MelodyVR has said that it will live stream real-time concerts via VR and offer ‘virtual tickets’ to sold-out shows, so fans can always attend a much-in-demand show, no matter how far away it is from their location.

To enable users to get right into the heart of the performance, MelodyVR users will be able to select ‘Jump Spots’, so users can select if they want to watch from the front row, deep in the crowd, or right up on stage with the band.

Ian Congdon, Head of NEC Group Arena Sales said: “VR is transforming the concert experience and shifting how fans can consume music, so it’s fantastic to partner with MelodyVR as pioneers in this field. Their usage of exciting features and technological capabilities means missing a ‘must-see’ or sold out show could become a thing of the past. Nothing can beat experiencing live music in a venue, but offering VR concerts to our customers gives them more opportunities to experience the live music they love and get closer to artists than ever before.”

Steven Hancock, COO of MelodyVR added: “We are excited to be partnering with the NEC Group to deliver live and recorded VR experiences. Working with forward thinking and progressive partners to make live music globally accessible via Virtual Reality are the foundations that MelodyVR was built on, I’m very pleased that the NEC Group share that same passion for the future and we look forward to working together more closely.”
