StarVR One Aims to Offer ‘a new world of realism’ for Commercial and Enterprise Needs

It’s the latest generation of StarVR Corp’s wide FOV HMD.

After its initial tease last week, StarVR Corporation has now unveiled its latest virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD), the StarVR One.

StarVR One

StarVR One is the latest generation of the StarVR headset, renown for its 210-degree horizontal and 130-degree vertical field of view (FOV). This provides nearly 100 percent of natural human vision, with additional features including advanced optics, a VR-optimized AMOLED display serving up 16 million sub-pixels at a refresh rate of 90 frames per second (FPS), and  integrated eye tracking.

Don’t expect to see the StarVR One in your local retailer as the headset has been built from the ground up to support the most demanding use cases for both commercial and enterprise sectors. Whether that’s rigorous and exacting VR experiences such as driving and flight simulations, to the ability to identify design issues in engineering applications, for example.

“StarVR continues its legacy of innovation that pushes past the barriers standing in the way of enterprise-grade VR experiences,” said Emmanuel Marquez, CTO of StarVR in a statement. “StarVR is blazing new trails to deliver break-through technology for a new world of realism to support real business decisioning and value creation. With our StarVR One headset we are conquering the VR final frontier – the enterprise.”

StarVR Corp teamed up with Tobii to provide the eye tracking solution for StarVR One, allowing it to be used with foveated rendering techniques for the best looking visuals. Additionally, StarVR One automatically measures Interpupillary Distance (IPD), instantly adjusting for every user.

For businesses looking to purchase StarVR One the head will be available in two variants. The standard StarVR One features the new SteamVR 2.0 tracking solution, supporting tracked areas up to 10×10 square meters. Alternatively, the StarVR One XT is embedded with active optical markers ready optical tracking systems alongside ready-to-use plugins for a variety of tracking systems.

Currently there’s been no confirmation on when StarVR One will be available for purchase and how much each variation will be. Unveiled at SIGGRAPH 2018, as VRFocus learns more about the HMD we’ll keep you updated.
