New York Giants’ Odell Beckham Jr. Discusses Gaming & VR in new I Am More Episode

His competitiveness isn’t just for the football field.

American football superstar for the New York Giants Odell Beckham Jr. is currently involved in a documentary series on Facebook, I Am More: OBJ, following him as he prepares for each game of the 2018 season while balancing a normal family life. The most recent episode, S1:E8 – The Competitive Edge shows how his competitiveness bleeds into gaming, hearing about OBJ’s first console ever, favourite videogames, and see him try virtual reality (VR).

During the 10-minute episode, Odell and teammate Sterling Shepard experience VR with the Oculus Rift and Oculus Touch motion controllers, advancing their passion for standard videogames like Call of Duty into an immersive world where their athletic ability is put to the test. They experience VR Sports Challenge and Survios’ latest title Creed: Rise to Glory, getting involved like never before as they swing, toss, block, and jab in real time.

“I Am More: OBJ” is a 16-episode docu-series that follows the New York Giants’ star wide receiver throughout the 2018 NFL campaign. Fans get an inside look at his recovery from last year’s ankle injury, his weekly preparation before each game, and his life away from football, including his love for family and fashion. Episodes drop each Friday; fans can add episodes to their Watchlists by following the I Am More: OBJ Facebook Page.

Creed: Rise to Glory

While this may have been Beckham Jr.’s first foray into VR, the NFL itself has long had an affiliation with the technology, whether it’s been through NextVR and the broadcasting of games, or the training of players thanks to STRIVR.
