Protect Flavortown One Episode at a Time Later This Month

There will be six episodes in total.

There have been a number of virtual reality (VR) titles using an episodic template to release content such as Vader Immortal and The Exorcist: Legion VR. Later this month indie team Last Hope of the Internet is set to launch the first in its series, Flavortown.

Set in a world entirely populated by living food, this narrative-driven videogame sees players step into the role of a meatball cop, keeping the streets of Flavortown crime-free. They come across colourful characters on their beat, from crime affiliated rap superstar Tommy Tomato to the town’s mayor.

Players will need to go undercover to infiltrate Flavortown’s underworld, discovering illegal underground casinos and finding out what the squeaky clean The Grill Scouts are up to at their offices. There will be plenty of gadgets and weapons to help in these endeavours, using the Super Action Communicator smartwatch to keep track of all the info uncovered plus a set of really handy 3-D replicating holsters which can print a wide variety of weapons.

In between all the crime fighting, downtime can be spent playing a collection of minigames. Those revealed so far include fishing, Simon says, and the one all VR videogames are missing, working as a telemarketer.

“None of us at LHOTI have ever been more proud of something that we’ve worked on. The insane journey we took as a tribe while working on this game has inspired something truly unique and rare. Beyond the painfully hilarious moments of comedy, there is a bigger story to be told within this world and I can’t wait to provide that experience to players,” said Will Fase, Founder, Last Hope of the Internet in a statement.

Flavortown is due to launch on 26th October via the Oculus Store and Steam for PC VR headsets. There will be six episodes in total, each retailing for $6 USD. The studio is also planning to release an Oculus Quest version before the end of 2020. For further updates on Flavortown, keep reading VRFocus.
